Even if the chickens were free range,

even if the cows grazed in open field,
even if the dog that was bred was kept in the house,
and the puppies were sold to good homes,

the animals are exploited; their bodies are used– killed, eaten, impregnated, sold– without their consent and for a profit. And that is wrong.
